Most fiction book formatting is fairly straightforward. The only issues usually stem from improper use of styles in the Word file.
Before I converted the file to a clean HTML file, I changed all the Chapters to a Heading 1 tag. This allowed the HTML conversion to retain the H1 HTML tag (which is used to determine the logical table of contents).
The conversion to HTML converted all the paragraph TAB indents to 10 “spaces”, which needed to removed. I used the “Find/Replace” feature to remove all the extra spaces and used my CSS to create the proper paragraph indent.
Completion
Project was formatted for both Amazon Kindle and Epub formats and Validated using Epubcheck.
Project included 39 Chapters, copyright, preface, acknowledgements and about the author pages:
- Correcting minor style and formatting errors
- Conversion to XHTML
- Splitting chapters into separate pages
- Create a Clickable Table of Contents
- Create Logo / Title Image for copyright page
- Create Original Book Cover Design

I enjoyed working with Dixon on creating this book cover. I provided 5 different thumbnail mockups, and then 2 full-size mockups. We then asked the Facebook Audience to vote. The consensus was the one you see on the page.
This cover is a compilation of three images. I created three masked layers of the drink, reducing the opacity of one layer by 40% so the letters of the book title show through the glass stem.
